Shabby Chic tag booklet tutorial

Hi and welcome back to my blog

I am back with a video for the construction of a tag booklet

I have made this in a shabby chic theme but you can make it in any style you wish

I made this using some scraps I had left over from another project, so ideal for using up all those bits of decorative paper we have hanging around.

I added a little twist and included a magnetic closure

For the base you will need a piece of card  measuring 5 x 7 inches
you need to score the long side at 1/2, 3/4, 3 3/4,& 4 inches
and the short side on the edge with the 2 score lines at 2 1/2 inches to the 2nd line
then draw a line from the end of the little scoreline to the top of the next scoreline
then trim along the little score line and the drawn line as shown below
fold and burnish all score lines
I then added some strong craft magnets to the small flap using glue dots and covered with a strip of decorative paper cut to 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches which I trimmed down to size once I had worked the paper over the magnets.
Trim some decorative paper to 2 3/4 x 4 3/4 inches, you will need 4 pieces
next take one of the pieces and trim 1/8 inch off of the long side next place on the base and align the paper has an even border on the piece that is cut at an angle then mark on the long side where the gap will be 1/8 inch from the free edge and cut from the mark to the top edge.

Repeat for the next piece remembering to mirror what you did for the 1st piece, glue all pieces into place using a good glue
I then distressed  all the edges with distress oxide ink
I then covered all the surfaces in multi medium matte to give me a waterproof surface to work on and dried thoroughly before adding some distress oxide ink which I then splattered with water to create the "oxide" effect I desired I then sprinkled the surface with paint in 2 colours to get my desired effect.
I then used offcuts to make my pockets on the inside and front. I then added lace and flat backed pearls to the front edge and pocket edges of my tag booklet

*TOP TIP NEED A LACE TO MATCH YOUR PROJECT ~
USE THE INK YOU ARE USING TO COLOUR WHITE LACE*

this is where my battery died whilst filming 😢
But what I did was add some flowers and some wired pearls with matte multi medium I then left the project to dry thoroughly.

I then cut some plain white card to 2 x 4 inched X2 and
some decorative paper to 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches  X2
I then used my tag top punch to cut all 4 tops

I then edged all the pieces with distress ink
I then covered the decorative paper with multi medium matte and decorated using the same techniques as the booklet.
I then fussy cut the clear edges off of a sticker of a woman before placing over a sticker of a butterfly which I had mounted on white card I then fussy cut out the whole image
I attached this image to my decorative paper with some lace and flat backed pearls before attaching the decorated tag to the white tag with an eyelet and finished it off with a ribbon hanger I repeated this all for the 2nd tag.

Once the flowers were dry on my booklet  I finished the flowers off with some paint sprinkles and some glitter stickles
I then decorated the inside of my booklet with flat flowers before putting the tags in the pockets.

to finish I coloured some lace in a rainbow effect using the ink colours I used in the booklet and sprinkled with some paint I then dried with my heat tool to set the colours.
I then added it as a hanger for my booklet

if you prefer a video here is my 1st one
